Website Redesign

The University Web Management Team is excited to announce the unveiling of a new homepage for during the week of November 17th. Thanks to input from members of all areas of the University, this new homepage reflects the goal of implementing a more user-friendly site that helps Framingham State attract and retain students, and provides faculty, staff and community members with a clear direction as to where they can find information to answer their questions online.

What you will notice is that the new homepage is responsive, meaning that the page adapts to the screen size of the device being used to access the site. The information on the homepage will not change. All the links and points of information are kept the same.

This homepage “quick refresh” marks the beginning of a long-term project that will see the complete redesign of the navigation and look and feel of the entire University website, with an anticipated launch date of Fall 2015. We hope you enjoy the new look of and will participate in conversations as the project moves forward.

Bring a friend and your syllabus to the 2014 Faculty Technology Summer Institute.

We have reserved a seat for you at the 2014 Faculty Technology Summer Institute on August 19 and 20. The two day program represents a collaboration between the offices of Assessment and Education Technology and is supported by Academic Affairs, CELTSS and ITS.  This summer, ETO staff will be joined by Assessment Consultant Peggy Maki who will facilitate the first day of the two day program. Day two we invite you to join your colleagues in peer discussions that build on conversations with our consultant and a celebration of our Technology Innovation Grant recipients.

Institute agenda topics are organized on the theme of “Imagine the classroom in 2020” with a focus on Assessment, Technology and the exploration of the answers to these questions:

  • Who is our student/learner?
  • What is the potential for teaching and learning in 2020?
  • How can we use technology to build literacy and content knowledge skills?
  • How can we use technology to expand beyond the walls of the classroom?
  • Who am I as a teacher, and where do I need to grow to meet the needs of the learner?

As we look to the future of education, it is essential that we address the challenges facing our digital learners. Digital literacies and critical content knowledge are two skills our students need to succeed in their future careers – some of which are not yet invented. Participants who attend the institute will be provided with theory and applications for creating course objectives, learning opportunities, learn reliable and effective outcomes assessment strategies and participate in guided instruction in using technology that supports these efforts. We will also celebrate the successes of our recent Innovation Grant recipients and the faculty who received grants this year.
